Mission Tasks:

On this page there is a brief summary of each task that must be completed for your mission.  The tasks must be completed in numerical order.  Click on the title of each task, or access the tasks from the drop-down menu on Mission Tasks, and go to that page where you will find detailed instructions and resources to help you complete each mission task.

Task #1:  Choose Your Career

You will begin your journey making a difficult choice:  do you want to be an archaeologist or a paleontologist?  After learning all that you can about both professions, you will need to answer the questions at the bottom of the page and submit your choice.

Task #2:  Casts and Molds

Both archaeologists and paleontologists often make casts and molds of their findings so that the artifacts and fossils can be handled and studied.  Partnering with a group of scientists, you will learn the process, and then collaborate to make your own set of casts and molds.

Task #3:  Plan dig

It takes a great collaborative effort on the part of scientists to plan and prepare for an excavation. You will be assigned your location; however, it will be up to you and your colleagues to use the provided resources, and make an extensive "live" list of supplies that will be needed for this effort.

Task #4:  Eureka ! ! !

What did the excavation produce?  You are about to find out as you research your discoveries!  Using the provided resources and your fantastic study skills to learn as much as you can about your findings.

Task #5:  Publish

To complete this mission, you now must share with the world your amazing discoveries.  To accomplish this, you will  create your own newspaper and the headlining new story will be all about your discovery and contribution to science!

Task #6:  Self Assessment

Now that you have completed your mission, it is time to reflect on your performance.  Give attention and thought to the details of your tasks and how you did on each of them.
